SKI SAFARI PHOTOS NO. 2

Elephants in South Luangwa, Zambia

The River Lodge we stayed at overlooked the river.  Every night this group of elephants come across to go and raid the next-door village and would be seen crossing back the following morning.  The villagers have taken to growing their crops on their roofs!

After having a drink, these elephants moved off, but then this one could not resist coming back to chase the birds.  It was having such fun!!

These elephants we enjoying their drink at the end of a long hot day.
The dozing hippo was not amused at having his nap disturbed!

This little chap was only a couple of months old.  He had not learnt to use his trunk properly yet, and still knelt down in order to eat or drink with his mouth,

The tastiest bits are always at the top!!

This naughty elephant was often to be found in the camp, looking for mischief.
On this occasion we were sitting in a semi-circle in the garden looking out over the river, having our tea.  There was some fruit and some chocolate brownies on the table and he was determined to have a taste. Eventually the rangers had to start one of the vehicles and chase him gently away.

Tomorrow - our first leopard sighting of the trip....
